Email Addresses Required

EMEA_news

Effective 1st of May, all certifications submitted via PIC Online or DSD Registration Online require a student email address.

Email addresses are required for quality management purposes and to help enhance diver safety by ensuring that the PADI courses and programs are conducted in accordance with PADI standards. History shows that customers taking PADI Programs are more likely to respond, and respond accurately, to Course Evaluation Questionnaires when the survey is received as quickly as possible following training, via email.

Your student has the ability to opt in or out of receiving promotional emails from PADI and its partners (Project AWARE, for example) at any time, including when the PIC Online is submitted. The screengrab below shows where you may indicate an email preference.

If your student is a minor, the email address of a parent or guardian may be provided if the parent or guardian chooses not to provide the minor’s email address.

You are not able to submit a student via the online PIC form without a student email address. An error box will appear (see below) and the student will not be processed. If you have a particular problem with a customer with no email address, contact the training department.

If your students question the need for an email address, please explain their address is only required for quality management purposes. The Course Evaluation Questionnaire they will receive via email helps us effectively and efficiently maintain PADI’s high standards for diving safety. The student may easily opt out of any PADI promotional mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link which appears at the bottom of all our messages.

Ask Any Diver Campaign Relies on Video Submissions from PADI Members

askdiver_eheader_prosite-E

The new Ask Any Diver acquisition campaign features stories from real divers sharing how they overcame their personal obstacles or preconceived notions of
scuba diving on the way to certification.

The initial portion of the campaign features print and online pieces highlighting an individual diver’s story and points potential customers to PADI
Dive Centers or Resorts or padi.com for more information. Later pieces will showcase videos featuring multiple divers relating their stories.

Do you have a diver with an inspirational story, such as one that conquered a fear of water or overcame a disability and transformed their life through
diving? This is a great chance to promote your divers and your dive center or resort – make your student i.e. wear your dive center or resort T-Shirt
if she/he wants. There’s also a chance that you’ll be featured in a global advertising campaign.

Have your diver submit two high-resolution headshot photographs and a video for consideration. Your divers should describe the obstacles they overcame and
tell how scuba diving changed their lives. Videos may be up to five minutes and in one of the following formats: .H264, .mov, .mp4, .wmv or Prores422lt.
Unfortunately, .flv or .avi files cannot be accepted.

Upload videos here:

http://www.padi.com/scuba/scuba-diving-guide/start-scuba-diving/askanydiver/.

Please note: Submitting a video does not guarantee the diver will be featured.

We are looking forward to receiving all the material.

Finathon July 2013– Get Swimming to End Finning

Finathon™

Are you FINatical about Sharks?

Join the Race & Get Swimming to End Finning

The clock’s ticking for vanishing shark species. This July, Project AWARE is looking for 100 Finathon™ champions to join the race to protect them. If you’re FINatical about sharks, join the Finathon today and fundraise for their protection.

Finathon™

What is the Finathon™? Like a swimathon, fun run, cycle race or marathon – the Finathon is a great way to bring the community together, raise awareness and funds to support this unique cause. You can help Project AWARE:

Fight to stop shark finning

Insist on full protections for critically endangered sharks

Negotiate stronger policies to ensure a brighter future for all sharks

Why be FINatical about sharks with AWARE? Shark fishing is largely unregulated around the world. Overfishing, bycatch and finning – the slicing of sharks fining and throwing away the body at sea – kills thousands of sharks every day. Project AWARE has recently helped close loopholes in the EU finning ban and secure international trade protections for 8 of the world’s most vulnerable sharks and rays. But, to ensure the survival of sharks, stricter, enforceable controls are needed for more species at national, regional and global levels.

What Divers Say About the Finathon:

“It’s a healthy, fun way to raise awareness and funding for a hugely important cause. We’re amazed at the support shown by all participants and cannot thank them enough for the effort they put in particularly with fundraising,” said Richard at Dive Downbelow, Sabah, Malaysia.

“Having seen the effects of shark finning first hand in Thailand, it was really important to me to get involved and all of this has really shown me just how dedicated many of us are to this cause,” said Caitlin Hale, Patriot Scuba, Virginia, USA. “There is still so much more to be done, but if we band together like this, we can really make a difference.  I’m just glad that all of us here at Patriot are part of the solution.”

“When I heard about this event I contacted friends and family in England and raised 650 Malaysian Ringgit which is around £130 English pounds.  This is a really important matter globally and personally to me, sharks are worth ten times more alive than dead. They bring in vast amounts of tourism to an area which helps the local economy.” Sam Brodie, Dive Downbelow Malaysia IDC Staff Instructor Intern
